Consistent, High-Quality Dental Bonding in Irvine

For minor restorations of a tooth, dental bonding is an efficient means of restoration.  In this procedure, tooth-colored resin or composite resin is bonded to the surface of the tooth and cured with a special UV light.

This can be used for a number of concerns, including:

  • Repairing a chipped or cracked tooth
  • Improving the appearance of a discolored tooth
  • Tooth lengthening
  • To change the shape or size of a tooth
  • To fix small gaps
  • To cover an exposed root
  • Dental fillings

The process is simple.  For most procedures, anesthesia is not necessary.  A shade guide will be used to match the color of the resin to the color of your teeth.  The surface of the tooth will be roughened and conditioned to help the resin bond to it.

When the resin is applied, it is soft and putty-like.  Our doctors will mold it into the ideal natural shape and make it smoothed to match the remaining natural tooth.  An ultraviolet light is used to harden the resin in seconds.

Once the resin has hardened, we will trim and shape it, making it look smooth and esthetically natural.  It is then polished to match the sheen of the surface of your teeth.

This is a fast and easy method of dental restoration.  The entire process is finished in 30-60 minutes and does not require a second visit like traditional crowns or veneers would.  This preserves the most amount of healthy enamel of any restorative procedure.

This is an ideal treatment for small cosmetic alterations and repairs to the front teeth, which are highly visible and have low bite pressure.
